That tower on Lille Road is the Empress State Building. Headquarters of the 77th Brigade.

Loved this walk, John. I think I walked a small section of Sniggs Alley 3 years ago. Happy memories of walks with my grandfather during the 70s and 80s: Lude Farm, Forty Green, the Royal Standard pub, and the paths back to Beaconsfield new town. Seeing this video was a trip down memory lane.

I am going to do part of this walk next week, when I am in London from the USA. Will start in Hackney and end up in the docklands. The canal looks great to walk down.

Attempted half of the walk today but kept getting myself lost, so I had to call quits around Chase Side. Will try to complete it soon!

i 'spent time' in pentonville. my memory of it compared to other prisons was 'very smelly'. hope this helps.

the scala showed 'a clockwork orange' against kubricks legal request and he sued them and won. he got sick of the british hating the film. that's why the film is still banned (in uk only) by kubrick today. hope this helps.

i've read every word orwell wrote. i am connected to the frued family and wintered over with the frueds in walberswick aged 16. i know orwell spoke of being in southwold and frued owned a house in walberswick around the same time so they are literally living next door to each other. i want to prove that orwell and frued were aware of each other and actually met. would love to correspond with you to compare notes. hope this helps some how.

the conduit was a common structure housing a large water pump. there's the exact same design structure on tottenham high road N17 with a roof and the original pump.
